Pablo Gonzalez Herrero is an Associate Professor at the University of Murcia's Faculty of Chemistry, Department of Inorganic Chemistry. He holds a permanent position under the I3 Programme and has been affiliated with the University since 2001. His research group focuses on organometallic chemistry, with expertise in photophysical and photochemical studies of platinum and other transition metal complexes.
Education:
- PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Murcia (1994–1997), supervised by Prof. J. Vicente and M. T. Chicote.
- Postdoctoral training at the University of Würzburg (Germany, 1998–2000) under Prof. H. Werner and at UC Berkeley (USA) with Prof. R. G. Bergman.
Research interests include synthesis of gold, silver, copper, palladium, and platinum coordination complexes, with emphasis on luminescent Pt(IV) complexes and photoinduced C–H activation processes. His work integrates structural characterization, electrochemistry, and quantum-chemical methods.
Awards:
- Marie Curie Fellowship (1998)
- Ramón y Cajal Programme (2001)
Key achievements include discovering novel gold complexes during his PhD and pioneering studies on cyclometalated platinum complexes' photophysical properties since 2014.
