Pablo Cohen

Pablo Cohen is a Professor of Music Performance at Ithaca College's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance and an affiliated artist at Cornell University. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Temple University and leads the classical guitar program at Ithaca College.

His research focuses on classical guitar performance, specializing in Latin American composers (e.g., Carlos Guastavino, Horacio Salgán), innovative transcriptions of works by artists like Chick Corea, and chamber/orchestral collaborations. His contributions expand the classical guitar repertoire through cultural fusion and technical innovation.

Dr. Cohen received the Music Teachers National Association Award for teaching excellence. He mentors students including Eric Pearson (MM '11, Performance), emphasizing performance pedagogy and artistic development.

As a performer, he collaborates globally with ensembles such as the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble X, and artists like bandoneonist Daniel Binelli. He has premiered works at venues including Carnegie Hall, Salle Cortot (Paris), and Teatro Nacional (Panama), with recordings featured on NPR and PBS.
