Jonathan Hulting-Cohen is an Associate Professor of Saxophone in the Department of Music and Dance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. They specialize in orchestral solo performances, chamber music, and innovative ensemble work. Hulting-Cohen is a member of the New Thread Quartet and co-founder of The Moanin’ Frogs, blending vaudeville-style antics with diverse musical repertoires. They have performed with notable ensembles like the Philadelphia Classical Symphony and Stockton Symphony, and their albums include works on Albany Records (2019) and innova Recordings (2021).
Education: Studied with Donald Sinta at the University of Michigan.
Research & Performance Interests: Chamber music innovation, electro-acoustic music, and gender equity in music. They annually premiere dozens of saxophone quartets and advocate for inclusive practices in music education.
