Ozlem Akin serves as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of International Finance at Ozyegin University's Faculty of Business Administration. She concurrently holds an Academic Fellowship at the Centre for Responsible Banking & Finance, University of St Andrews.
Her research spans banking and corporate finance, with particular expertise in financial intermediation, crisis dynamics, and Islamic banking systems. Recent work analyzes political connections in trading, liquidity creation in emerging markets, and early-warning signals in banking crises.
Publications demonstrate strong focus on real-world financial systems, combining empirical analysis of markets like Borsa Istanbul with cross-country studies of housing bubbles and regulatory impacts. Key journals include Financial Management and Economic Policy.
