Özlem Akın serves as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of International Finance at Özyeğin University's Faculty of Business Administration. She additionally holds an Academic Fellowship at the Centre for Responsible Banking & Finance, University of St Andrews.

Key interests include banking stability, corporate finance mechanisms, financial intermediation processes, and Islamic finance models, with particular attention to emerging markets and regulatory frameworks.
