Asst. Prof. Dr. Oya Alagöz serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Histology & Embryology at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine, specializing in reproductive science and embryology. Her academic foundation includes specialist training and Master's research at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine.
Her educational background encompasses:
- Bachelor of Medicine (1990-1996) from Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine
- Specialist training and Master's degree (1998-2000) in Histology and Embryology at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, focusing on retinoic acid effects on limb formation in mouse embryos
Dr. Alagöz's research spans reproductive medicine with emphasis on IVF optimization, sperm biology, and embryological techniques. Her work integrates histological analysis with clinical reproductive applications, particularly investigating factors affecting embryo transfer success, sperm quality enhancement, and novel cell-based therapies using cumulus cells. Recent publications (2019-2021) demonstrate innovation in microfluidic sperm sorting and cumulus cell therapeutic applications, while earlier work (2009, 2014) established foundational insights into uterine factors and sperm motion disorders in infertility treatment.
She actively supervises graduate research, recently guiding a 2024 Master's thesis on advanced glycation end products in cumulus cells of IVF patients. Her clinical-academic role bridges histological expertise with practical ART protocol development, maintaining active contributions to reproductive science through peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals.
