Dimitrios Ioannou, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Basic Sciences and Director of Assessment at Roseman University. He joined in 2023 to develop genetics curricula for the medical school, leveraging his interdisciplinary experience in academia, research, and clinical embryology. His work emphasizes inter-professional care and patient-centered decision-making in reproductive health contexts.
Education: PhD in Genetics, MPhil in Genetics, BSc Hons in Biology with Biochemistry. His research focuses on single-cell diagnostics, nuclear organization in sperm and embryos, and the genetic basis of infertility. He has contributed to over 10 peer-reviewed publications exploring topics like sperm chromosome structure, meiotic errors, and genome architecture in reproductive cells.
Key research themes include preimplantation genetic testing platforms, genome organization dynamics, and molecular diagnostics in fertility. His work bridges basic science with clinical applications, particularly in improving IVF outcomes and understanding aneuploidy mechanisms.
Teaching areas span genetics, molecular biology, clinical embryology, and diagnostics. His publications reveal a strong emphasis on chromatin structure, nuclear modeling, and the impact of environmental factors on reproductive genetics.
