Dr. Murat Basar is an Associate Research Scientist and Senior Embryologist at Yale University School of Medicine, specializing in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology, and Infertility. He holds dual roles as Associate Director of the Yale Sperm Physiology Laboratory and the Yale Endocrinology Laboratory. Dr. Basar earned his Ph.D. in Integrated Reproductive Biology and Embryology through a joint program between Istanbul University Institute of Health Sciences and Yale University School of Medicine.
His research focuses on embryonic stress-related pregnancy complications, endometriosis pathogenesis, and the effects of spaceflight on female reproductive aging. He has pioneered studies on microgravity impacts on oocyte quality and mitochondrial health, contributing to space bioscience advancements. Dr. Basar is a recognized expert in advanced IVF techniques, including trophoectoderm biopsy and mitochondrial function analysis, with over 15 peer-reviewed publications and frequent presentations at international conferences.
