Outi Kugapi is a Doctoral Researcher and Researcher at the University of Lapland, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Multidimensional Tourism Institute. Her primary roles include Project Manager and Development Specialist within Education and Development Services. She holds a Master of Arts in Service Design (2023) from the University of Lapland.
Her research focuses on creative tourism, particularly traveler experiences in craft tourism through autoethnographic methodologies. She explores cultural sensitivity in tourism policies, actor experiences in craft tourism, and service design applications. Her work emphasizes Arctic communities and sustainable development.
Outi has been actively involved in 10+ projects since 2018, including the "LapinKIERTO" circular economy initiative and the "Digital Skills for Creative Industries" program. Her publications (31 total) span tourism policy frameworks, culturally sensitive practices, and co-design approaches for cultural preservation.
She has contributed to international conferences on Arctic tourism and serves on editorial boards for tourism education journals. Her non-academic passion for handicrafts directly informs her research perspective.
