Dr. Ossama Osman is a Professor in the Faillace Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. With over three decades of experience in both the United States and Gulf Region, he brings extensive expertise in clinical psychiatry, psychopharmacology, and interdisciplinary research approaches. Dr. Osman recently joined UTHealth Houston after serving as a professor of psychiatry in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University, where he founded and directed the first structured UAE national psychiatric residency training program.
Dr. Osman's research interests span community psychiatric epidemiology in primary care settings and interdisciplinary clinical psychiatric research, with specific focus areas including bariatric psychiatry, psycho-dermatology, trauma, interpersonal violence, and substance abuse. His clinical expertise encompasses addiction treatment and rehabilitation, clinical psychopharmacology, and cognitive behavioral therapies.
Dr. Osman's publication record demonstrates his commitment to interdisciplinary work, with recent articles examining topics such as psychological assessment for bariatric surgery patients, attentiveness of dermatologists to psychocutaneous medicine, and mental health law frameworks in the UAE. His research consistently bridges psychiatric care with other medical specialties and community health settings.
