Carolina Olmos

Dr. Carolina Olmos is an Assistant Professor at the Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School, part of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston). She also serves as an Attending Psychiatrist at the UT Physicians Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic, where she holds a leadership role in the Anxiety Clinic.

Dr. Olmos supervises residents in the Third Year Psychiatry Resident Clinic and is involved with research projects at the UT Center of Excellence on Mood Disorders. Her educational background includes a medical degree and initial psychiatry residency from Faculdade de Ciências Médicas Santa Casa de São Paulo in Brazil, followed by an additional psychiatry residency at UT Health Houston.

Dr. Olmos specializes in several key areas of psychiatry:

• Mood disorders, including treatment-resistant depression, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder
• Anxiety disorders
• Transcultural psychiatry
• Women's mental health
• Medical education

As a board-certified psychiatrist fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, Dr. Olmos brings a unique cross-cultural perspective to her clinical practice and research. Her international training and experience in diverse clinical settings inform her approach to patient care and academic work.

Dr. Olmos is actively involved in medical education, supervising psychiatry residents and contributing to the training of future mental health professionals. Her research interests focus on mood disorders and transcultural psychiatry, with participation in projects at the UT Center of Excellence on Mood Disorders.
