Osama A. Shoair is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Health Outcomes at The University of Texas at Tyler's Fisch College of Pharmacy. He holds a PhD in Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BS in Pharmacy from Misr International University, Cairo. Dr. Shoair completed postdoctoral research fellowships at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and the University of Utah, focusing on health economics and patient outcomes.
His teaching interests include biostatistics, clinical research design, pharmacoepidemiology, and pharmacoeconomics. His research focuses on health economics, outcomes research, and geriatric care, with a particular emphasis on pharmacy education and patient care processes. Dr. Shoair actively reviews for journals in pharmacy education, pharmacotherapy, and gerontology. He is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
His work spans topics such as pharmacy student learning outcomes, healthcare costs of psychotropic polypharmacy in dementia, and barriers to interprofessional communication in healthcare settings. Dr. Shoair’s research also addresses issues in compounded medications, postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients, and academic integrity in pharmacy education.
