Busuyi Olotu, PhD, MSPharm, BPharm, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at West Coast University's College of Pharmacy. His academic career spans over 15 years, with prior roles in Nigerian academia and clinical pharmacy before relocating to the U.S. He holds advanced degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Health Economics and Outcomes Research at the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Olotu's teaching focuses on Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Science. His research explores health outcomes in chronic diseases (diabetes, cardiovascular, renal), pharmacoepidemiology, drug safety, and retrospective data analysis using electronic health records. Notable research includes studies on statin-associated diabetes risk, dialysis patient medication profiles, and CAM utilization in hospices.
He has presented at major conferences including the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), American Society of Health-System Pharmacy (ASHP), and Infectious Diseases Week. His work has been published in journals such as American Journal of Cardiovascular Drugs, American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Journal of Renal Medicine.
A dedicated academic, Dr. Olotu serves as a reviewer for multiple journals and professional societies, including ISPOR and the Academy of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy. He is a member of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society.
