Orsola Torrisi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at McGill University, located in Montreal, Quebec. She holds a PhD in Demography/Population Studies from the London School of Economics (2022), and has held postdoctoral positions at NYU Abu Dhabi and the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for Demography and Ecology. Her research focuses on crisis demography, particularly examining how armed violence, disasters, and weak vital registration systems impact family dynamics, reproductive health, and mortality patterns in low- and middle-income countries. She employs interdisciplinary methods combining demography, sociology, economics, and spatial analysis.
