Ora Szekely is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Clark University, with affiliations in the Peace and Conflict Studies Program, Women’s and Gender Studies Program, and the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
- PhD in Political Science from McGill University (2011)
- MA in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago (2004)
Her research focuses on nonstate armed groups in the Middle East, gendered dimensions of civil war, and field research methods. She teaches courses in comparative politics, identity politics, political violence, and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Key publications include Syria Divided (2023), Insurget Women (2019), and The Politics of Militant Group Survival in the Middle East (2017). She co-hosts the Stories from the Field podcast and co-authored a guide on fieldwork in political science (2020).
