Marta Havryshko is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Clark University, holding a PhD in History from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (2010). Her research focuses on sexual violence during WWII and the Holocaust, women’s history, feminism, and nationalism. She also serves as a Research Associate at the I. Krypiakevych Institute of Ukrainian Studies in Ukraine.

Research Interests: Dr. Havryshko examines sexual violence as a tool of war and genocide, particularly its intersection with gender, nationalism, and post-war justice. She analyzes how historical narratives shape modern perceptions of trauma and memory, with a focus on Ukraine’s complex historical context.
Key Contributions: Her book Overcoming Silence: Women’s War Stories (2018) explores silenced narratives of women’s wartime experiences. Recent work includes analyzing sexual violence in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its echoes in WWII.
