Oona Le Meur

Oona Le Meur is a Researcher affiliated with Striges and holds a joint PhD in Juridical Sciences from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and Sciences Po Paris. Since January 2024, she has been conducting postdoctoral research under the ANR VioletGinger project, supervised by Ariane Amado, focusing on domestic violence through the lens of gender and sexuality.

Her research specializes in reconstructing legal reasoning processes in New Caledonia's customary courts, analyzing gender categorizations in judicial decisions related to sexual/domestic violence in French-speaking Belgium, and exploring intersections of gender, sexuality, and legal practices. She employs ethnomethodological approaches to examine how legal professionals operationalize abstract concepts into concrete judgments.

The ANR VioletGinger project represents her current work on domestic violence at the margins of gender and sexuality norms. Her prior research contract (2022-2023) with Professor Diane Bernard at Université de Saint-Louis further solidified her expertise in gender-focused legal analysis.
