Onno Oncken

Onno Oncken is a Full Professor of 'Dynamics of the Earth's Crust' at the Earth Sciences Department of the Free University of Berlin since 1994. He concurrently serves as Director of the 'Geodynamics' department at the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences since 2003. His career includes roles such as Head of Section at GFZ (1992), Associate Professor at the University of Würzburg (1989), and Assistant Professor at the University of Frankfurt (1983).

• Education: PhD studies at Cologne University (1980-1981).

His research focuses on tectonics of plate margins, deformation analysis, and analogue modelling. He has contributed to understanding crustal dynamics and orogeny through geodynamic studies.
