Ondrej Šaray

Assoc. Prof. Ondrej Šaray is an Associate Professor at the Department of Composition and Conducting, Faculty of Music and Dance (VŠMU) in Bratislava. He specializes in choir and orchestral conducting, with a focus on children's and youth choirs. He leads the Bratislava Symphony Choir and has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Slovak Philharmonic and Capella Istropolitana. His international engagements include performances across Europe, Canada, Africa, and the USA.

Education: Studied orchestral conducting at the Bratislava Conservatory (under Zdeněk Bílek) and the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava (with Ladislav Slovák). Since 1996, he has taught at VŠMU, where he defended a dissertation (2005) on interpretation in children’s choirs. He was awarded associate professor status in 2005.

Research & Awards: His work emphasizes vocal and technical maturity in choral interpretation. He has won numerous domestic and international awards with his choirs (Echo Youth Choir, Amadeus Chor Bratislava). He serves on international juries for choir and orchestra competitions.

Artistic Activity: Conducted recordings for Slovak Radio, Slovak Television, and BBC London. Currently leads the Nitra Choir in Nitra and collaborates with orchestras globally.
