Peter Kajan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of String, Wind and Percussion Instruments, Faculty of Music and Dance, Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU). He holds a doctoral degree (ArtD) and has extensive experience in orchestral and chamber music performance. His primary instrument is the bassoon, and he specializes in repertoire spanning from the Renaissance to contemporary works by Slovak composers.
Education:
- Conservatory (studied under M. Hlavačka)
- Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (studied under J. Martanovič)
- Doctoral studies at the Academy of Music in Banská Bystrica
Research & Performance: Kajan focuses on historical and modern musical interpretation, premiering works by Slovak composers. He has performed internationally with groups like Europa Philharmonia, Cappella Istropolitana, and the Slovak Wind Quintet. His collaborations include orchestras such as the Košice State Philharmonic and the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra (where he has been the principal bassoonist since 2004).

- Recipient of the Golden Note Award (2009)
Grants & Projects: Active in festivals like Viva Musica!, Prague Spring, and Ostrava Days of New Music. Engaged in masterclasses with artists like G. Janot and ensemble collaborations (e.g., Albrecht Trio since 2020).
