Dr. Ondrej Kucera is a Lecturer in the Department of Engineering Technology at South-East Technological University (SETU). His research focuses on the self-organisation and dynamic behavior of cytoskeletal protein polymers, integrating engineering, biochemistry, and computational modeling. He holds a PhD from Czech Technical University in Prague (2012) and has held roles such as Researcher at CEA (2019–2022) and Associate Scientist at BIOCEV (2016–2019).
Education:
- PhD in Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague (2008–2012)
Research Interests:
- Cytoskeletal networks and their role in cell motility/division
- Microtubule lattice dynamics and cellular environment interactions
- Biological autoluminescence for diagnostic applications
His work bridges biophysics and engineering, with contributions to structural memory in cytoskeletal composites and myosin-independent contractility mechanisms.
Recent Work Trends: His articles explore microtubule stabilization via compressive forces, actin-microtubule interactions, and photonic biosignal analysis. These studies highlight interdisciplinary approaches to cellular mechanics and synthetic biology.
Awards: Recipient of the Siemens Excellence Award. Frequent speaker at international conferences on biophysics and cell biology.
Teaching & Mentorship: Supervises PhD students at SETU and teaches bioengineering, pharma, and electronics modules. Previously taught at Université Grenoble Alpes and Charles University.
