Chuck Sindelar is a Professor in the Department of Structural Biology at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on molecular motors, cytoskeletal filaments, and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) techniques. He earned a PhD from the University of California, San Francisco (2002) and a BS from MIT (1992). Sindelar leads a lab investigating mechanisms of kinesin, myosin, and bacterial flagellar motility using cutting-edge structural biology methods. His work bridges structural insights with dynamic processes in cellular biophysics.
Research interests include: 1) Structural basis of kinesin motor function and ATP-driven force generation; 2) Cryo-EM advancements for asymmetric helical assemblies; 3) Actin filament dynamics and cofilin-severing mechanisms; 4) Bacterial flagellar architecture in spirochetes.
