Dr. Omar Merlo is an Associate Professor of Marketing Strategy at the Department of Analytics, Marketing and Operations, Imperial College Business School. He serves as the Academic Director of the MSc Strategic Marketing programs. Previously, he held positions at the University of Cambridge (Judge Business School and St Edmund's College Fellow), University of Melbourne, and has been a Visiting Professor at global institutions including Oxford, LSE, ETH Zurich, and others. His expertise spans strategic marketing, customer engagement, brand management, and services relationship management.
Dr. Merlo holds an undergraduate degree in Business and Political Science, an Honours postgraduate degree in Business Strategy, and a Ph.D. in marketing strategy from the University of Melbourne. His research has been published in top journals like the Journal of Marketing and MIT Sloan Management Review, focusing on digital ethics, customer behavior, and brand dynamics.
He has received numerous awards for teaching and research, including the European Union Award for Excellence and a Swiss Research Fund Fellowship. As a consultant, he has advised global firms such as McKinsey & Co., Samsung, Airbus, and Unilever, emphasizing ethical marketing strategies and customer-centric approaches. His work bridges academic rigor with practical business solutions.
