Oluwasola Omoju serves as an Economist and Senior Research Fellow at Nigeria's National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), providing specialized research and technical support to the Nigerian parliament. He holds a doctorate in Applied (Energy) Economics from Xiamen University, China, establishing his academic foundation in energy-economic systems analysis.
Dr. Omoju's research concentrates on the critical intersection of climate and trade policies within African contexts, utilizing advanced macroeconomic modeling techniques including Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) frameworks. His work examines real-world policy impacts such as the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on African economies, emphasizing sustainable development pathways for the continent.
He has spearheaded major international collaborations including the European Investment Bank/Global Development Network assessment of Africa's Energy Guarantee Facility, Partnership for Economic Policy work on Nigeria's Renewable Energy Policy, and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa initiatives on Digital Trade Regulatory Integration and greening the AfCFTA's Digital Trade Protocol.
