معرفی
Olof Falk is a University Lecturer at the University of Borås within the Department of Library and Information Science, part of the Academy of Library, Information, Education and IT. He has held this academic position since 2019 while simultaneously pursuing his doctoral studies in library and information science with a specialization in digital humanities.
Falk's research centers on applying computational text analysis methods to solve fundamental challenges in library science. His doctoral thesis investigates how large-scale digital text analysis can generate innovative access points to literary works in digital library catalogs, addressing the longstanding difficulty of organizing multifaceted literary collections by subject content and thematic elements. Specifically, he explores how text mining techniques can facilitate conceptual analysis of literary texts and make literary genres visible through computational approaches. His work bridges traditional library science with cutting-edge digital methodologies to enhance knowledge organization systems.
As an educator, Falk teaches across multiple domains including knowledge organization systems, visual and multimodal communication (with emphasis on animation), and digital research methods. He actively participates in the DASH graduate school, a national Swedish network supporting doctoral students in digital humanities. His professional interests extend to cultural heritage digitization projects and innovative data visualization techniques that serve library and information science applications. Falk's academic trajectory demonstrates a strong commitment to integrating computational approaches with traditional library science to address contemporary challenges in information organization and access.
