Olivier Feron is an Associate Professor at the University of Évora since 1997, specializing in Philosophy within the Department of Philosophy. His academic journey includes degrees from universities in Liège, Paris, and Murcia, culminating in a doctoral thesis at the University of Liège (1996). He is a member of the Ernst Cassirer Society and the Portuguese Association of Phenomenological Philosophy, serving as its vice-president (2005–2011). He co-founded KRISIS, a research group in contemporary philosophy at Évora.
His research focuses on Modern and Contemporary Philosophy, Phenomenology, Philosophical Anthropology, and the works of Cassirer and Blumenberg. He has held visiting professor roles at the University of Murcia, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná. His publications include books on Blumenberg, Spinoza, and Neokantianism, alongside numerous articles exploring themes like cultural theory, symbolic systems, and existential anthropology.
Key research interests span philosophical anthropology, the interplay of contingency and modern thought, and critical analyses of Cartesian metaphors in modernity. His work bridges European philosophical traditions, emphasizing phenomenological and hermeneutical approaches.
