Professor Michael Bongardt holds the Chair of Anthropology, Cultural and Social Philosophy at the Philosophical Seminar of the University of Siegen since 2016. His research spans interdisciplinary philosophy, focusing on cultural philosophy (Ernst Cassirer tradition), social philosophy (liberal society pluralism), and anthropological inquiries into human self-understanding across religions and sciences.
- Education: Doctorate in Theology (1994, Münster), Habilitation in Catholic Theology (1998, Münster)
His work critically examines worldviews' conditions of possibility and ethical consequences, particularly in interreligious dialogue, theological ethics, and philosophy of revelation. Publications include monographs on revelation theology, Cassirer/Kierkegaard philosophy, and edited volumes like the Hans Jonas Handbook (2021). Current research collaborations involve the Hans Jonas Institute and international Cassirer Society.
Recent publications (2021-2023) focus on faith epistemology, mortality ethics, and scriptural hermeneutics in education. Despite no explicit awards listed, his editorial leadership in the critical edition of Hans Jonas' works and gestalt therapy training (1993-1997) demonstrate multidisciplinary engagement.
