Olga Zabotina is a Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology at Iowa State University. Her research focuses on polysaccharide biosynthesis, cell wall structure, and plant-microbe interactions. She holds an M.S. from Kazan State University and a Ph.D. in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry from the Institute of Biology, Russian Academy of Sciences.
Her work investigates the molecular mechanisms of xyloglucan biosynthesis in plant Golgi apparatus and the role of polysaccharides in stress responses. Key research areas include glycosyltransferase complexes, cell wall integrity, and polysaccharide-mediated signaling.
Dr. Zabotina's lab employs multidisciplinary approaches, including reverse genetics, cellular, molecular, and structural biology to advance understanding of glycans' roles in plant biology. Her contributions have been published in high-impact journals, focusing on plant cell wall dynamics and biotechnological applications.
