معرفی
Olga Tomyuk serves as a Research Associate for Russian Literature and Linguistics at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, jointly affiliated with the Department of Slavic Studies under the Faculty of Philosophy II and the Faculty of Theology. Her dual appointment focuses on the Global History of Christianity with specialized emphasis on Orthodox traditions.
Her research critically examines the sacralization of the Russo-Ukrainian War within Russian and Ukrainian Orthodox Churches, analyzing conceptual frameworks, theological justifications, and ritual competitions. Key interests span Orthodox Christianity's intersection with modern conflict, war-mongering/peace-making narratives, Slavic linguistics, ritual dynamics, and Ukrainian religious studies—all approached through interdisciplinary lenses combining theology, literary analysis, and political anthropology.
As Doctoral and Student Representative in the seminar council, she advocates for graduate interests while collaborating on the project "War-mongering and peace-making narratives of the national" (documented in a December 2024 project description). Her doctoral dissertation investigates how Orthodox churches employ theological concepts and rituals to sanctify the Russo-Ukrainian conflict through competing narrative frameworks.
