Marcin Składanowski

Rev. Prof. Dr. hab. Marcin Składanowski is a full Professor at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, holding positions in the Department of Political Systems and International Communication at the Institute of Political Science and Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences. He also serves as Head of the Department of University Strategy and Development and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Theology.

Research Interests:

Marcin Składanowski’s research integrates theology, political science, and security studies. His work focuses on Russian ideology, neo-imperialism, and security policy, analyzing the intersection of religion and state power in Russia. He explores Russian-Chinese ideological alignment, the cultural dimensions of international security, and the historical evolution of church-state relations in Russia. In theology, he contributes to ecumenical dialogue, Christian anthropology, and political theology.

Publications & Impact:

With over 200 scholarly works, including 10 monographs and numerous peer-reviewed articles, his recent research investigates Russian strategic narratives, Orthodox Christianity’s role in state ideology, and the sacralization of politics under Putin. His 2025 publications analyze Patriarch Kirill’s war rhetoric and Russia’s media-driven enemy construction.

He serves on editorial boards of Roczniki Teologiczne and Religious Dialogue and Cooperation, and reviews for multiple theological and political science journals.
