Dr. Olga Ehrlich is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Oakland University. She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a BSN from Arizona State University. Her clinical background includes roles as a hospice/palliative care nurse, surgical technician, and midwife. Dr. Ehrlich's research focuses on cancer pain management, palliative care education, and reducing rural health disparities. She has developed curricula for undergraduate nursing programs and is active in professional organizations like the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA).
Education: Postdoctoral fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (2017-2019), PhD in Nursing (2017), BSN (2006).
Research Interests: Cancer pain social processes, palliative care integration in education, disparities in rural palliative care. Recent work includes studies on functional pain goals, motivational interviewing for pain management, and mobile health interventions.
Grants: Awards include Oakland University Faculty Research Fellowship (2024), Oberhauser Nursing Instruction Endowment grants (2018-2024), and Sigma Foundation funding (2016-2017). Areas supported include palliative care curriculum development and competency-based education alignment.
