Oleg Olikh

Oleg Olikh is Professor and Head of the Department of General Physics at the Faculty of Physics, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. With over 25 years of academic experience, he has progressed from Assistant (1998-2002) to Associate Professor (2002-2021) and finally to Professor (2021-present). He also served as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physics for Educational and Methodological Work from 2007-2011.

Olikh's research focuses on the intersection of acoustics and semiconductor physics, particularly the application of ultrasound to characterize and modify semiconductor structures. His work centers on silicon solar cells, where he has developed innovative approaches including the model of acoustically active complex defects, methods for determining barrier structure parameters using metaheuristic algorithms, and deep learning-based techniques for estimating electrically active centers. His research bridges fundamental physics with practical applications in renewable energy technology.

Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong trend toward integrating machine learning with traditional physics methodologies, particularly for solar cell characterization and defect analysis. His work consistently explores the interaction between ultrasound, radiation effects, and semiconductor properties, with increasing emphasis on computational approaches to solve complex problems in photovoltaics.

• I. Puluj Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2021) for implementation of controlled influence of acoustic field on defect reconstruction processes in semiconductors and surface barrier structures

Professor Olikh has secured significant research funding, most notably the 2020 project "Development of physical principles of acoustically controlled modification and machine-oriented characterization of silicon solar cells" which won the National Research Foundation of Ukraine's competition for support of leading and young scientists. He serves as Expert of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Head of the Scientific and Methodological Commission of the Faculty of Physics. He was also Secretary of the subcommittee on specialty 104 "Physics and Astronomy" of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2019-2024).

Professor Olikh leads research within the Comprehensive Scientific Program "Innovative and Resource-Saving Technologies" at Taras Shevchenko National University and participates in the European Materials Acceleration Center for Energy research network (COST Action CA22123). His laboratory work focuses on current-voltage, capacitance-voltage and photovoltaic measurements, metaheuristic methods applications, and solid-state acoustics experimentation.
