Oleg Dmitriev is a Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. With a PhD from Moscow State University (1989) and postdoctoral training at University of Osnabrück (1990-91) and University of Wisconsin-Madison (1991-94), his work focuses on metal transport proteins and their roles in cancer and Wilson disease.
Research Interests:
- Regulation of copper, iron, and platinum transport in cells
- Mechanistic studies of ATP7B (Wilson disease protein) and Atox1
- Metal homeostasis in cancer metastasis via MEMO1
- Structural biology using protein NMR spectroscopy
Recent Publications highlight:
- MEMO1's role in iron regulation and cancer progression (2024-2025)
- Mechanistic insights into ATP7B domain dynamics and copper transport (2024)
- Interplay between copper transporters and platinum drug resistance (2011-2017)
Lab: The Dmitriev Lab (website) is part of the Molecular Design Research Cluster, investigating metal-handling proteins in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
