Olasumbo Olaniyi is a Doctoral Candidate in Architecture at the University of Plymouth's Justice and Imagination in Global Displacement (JIGD) Research Group. She holds a MTech in Architectural Technology (University of Johannesburg), PGDip in Urban Management (Erasmus University Rotterdam), and BTech in Architecture (Federal University of Technology, Akure). As a third-year tutor in the HTCC 521 Module (History and Theory) and School of Arts, Design, and Architecture postgraduate representative, she bridges academic rigor with community engagement.

Her research focuses on Spatial Justice, Displacement, and Migration with particular attention to African urban contexts. Through partnerships like UrbanBetter and Lagos Urban Development Initiative (LUDI), she advocates for clean air and climate-resilient public spaces. Notable artistic contributions include BBC Africa's Fighting for Clean Air in Lagos and the Trans Manifesto documentary on feminist spatial practices.
Presentations include discussions on urban inequality at MIPIM Challenger Conference (Cannes 2024) and climate financing at ICCDI forums. Her work intersects architecture, activism, and policy to address systemic urban challenges across scales.
