Ola Lanko is a transdisciplinary artist and academic affiliated with the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague. She holds roles including Lead of Common Ground (academy-wide initiative), Tutor and Study Coach for the Bachelor of Photography program, and Impact Mentor for the Master of Photography and Society (MAPS). Her practice integrates photography, moving image, sound, and performance to explore layered conceptual frameworks.
Education: Graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy (2012) and Royal Academy of Art (2010), with a Master's in Sociology from the National University of Kyiv (2007). Post-graduate studies included a residency at HISK, Belgium (2014).
Research interests focus on interdisciplinary artistic practices, the socio-cultural role of photography, and critical visual methodologies. Her work interrogates the power dynamics and impact of imagery in contemporary life, blending intuitive and analytical approaches in both art and pedagogy.
Exhibitions: Featured in institutions such as FOAM, Nederlands Fotomuseum, Kunst Haus Wien, Museo Amparo, and Musée de l’Elysée. Residencies include WIELS (Belgium) and others across Europe. Works are part of major collections including Nederlands Fotomuseum, ING, and LUMC.
