Prof. Okan Taycan is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Yeditepe University, specializing in Psychiatry. He has held academic and clinical roles across institutions including Istanbul University, Bolu Izzet Baysal Hospital, and McGill University's Division of Social & Transcultural Psychiatry.
- PhD in Social Anthropology (Istanbul University, 2014)
- MD in Medicine (University of Gaziantep, 1999)
- Specialization in Psychiatry (Istanbul University, 2007)
His research interests focus on trauma, migration, somatization, dissociation, and burnout in healthcare workers. He explores cultural dimensions of mental health, particularly in post-conflict and displaced populations.
Scientific awards include TÜBİTAK international scholarships, top university honors, and fully funded trauma studies in New York and Germany.
