Dr. Ojodomo Achadu is a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at Teesside University, affiliated with the School of Health and Life Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Nanochemistry from Rhodes University and has held postdoctoral fellowships at institutions including the University of Zululand and Shizuoka University, Japan. His research focuses on nanotechnology, functional nanomaterials, and their application in disease diagnostics, water purification, and sustainable energy solutions.
Dr. Achadu leads the Achadu 3N NanoLab Group, which has secured prestigious grants such as the Royal Society International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF) to develop sustainable nanotechnology-based water purification systems for developing countries in Africa. He has published over 50 articles in leading journals and serves as an editor for multiple scientific publications, including Biosensors and IOP’s Journal of Physics: Photonics.
His academic roles include Course Leader for the B.Sc. (Hons) Chemistry Programme and supervision of postgraduate students in Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences, and Environmental Sciences. He actively mentors researchers in securing funding through fellowships like the Marie Curie and Commonwealth Scholarships.
Dr. Achadu’s work bridges the health-water-environment-energy nexus, addressing global challenges through innovative nanotechnology solutions. His lab’s projects include solar-powered water purification systems and self-powered nanobiosensors for infectious disease detection.
