Odwa Atari

Dr. Odwa Atari is Associate Professor in Geography and Geology at Nipissing University's Faculty of Arts and Science. Holding a PhD from the University of Western Ontario, his research examines health geography and environmental exposure disparities. His work integrates GIS analysis with public health investigations, particularly in African contexts.

Research focuses on environmental justice issues, including air pollution health impacts in industrial zones like Ontario's 'Chemical Valley' and spatial determinants of childhood illness in Uganda and South Sudan. Current projects analyze refugee health in post-conflict settings and menstrual hygiene management barriers.

His publications demonstrate expertise in spatial epidemiology methods, cohort studies of pollution mortality, and community-based participatory research. Recent fieldwork addresses neglected tropical diseases and waterborne illness prevention in South Sudan.
