Natalie Exum is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering. Her research bridges public health and sanitary engineering to study environmental pathogen transmission.

Her work focuses on water, sanitation, hygiene, and neglected tropical diseases, particularly schistosomiasis in Uganda and menstrual health in workplace settings. Recent publications examine Legionella control in hospital water systems and wastewater surveillance for pandemic early warning systems.
Current courses include Water and Sanitation in Low-Income Communities and Advanced Environmental Health. She collaborates with the Johns Hopkins University Water Institute and has conducted fieldwork in Uganda (Mukono District), Peru (Iquitos), and the United States.
