Professor Jay Lee is a faculty member in the Department of Geography at Kent State University. His research focuses on spatial and temporal factors influencing geographic patterns, including applications in urban growth, environmental conservation, public health disparities, and GIS technologies. He leads projects developing agent-based models to simulate neighborhood health disparities and spatiotemporal simulators for urban growth, pollution, and crime.
- Education:
- Ph.D., Geography, University of Western Ontario (1989)
- M.A., Geography, Syracuse University (1985)
- B.Sc., Geography, National Taiwan University (1981)
Research interests include spatial analytics, urban sprawl, environmental pollution modeling, and the interplay between socioeconomic factors and health outcomes. His recent work emphasizes extending spatial analysis to spatiotemporal frameworks, addressing issues like supermarket accessibility in racially segregated neighborhoods and dengue fever outbreak drivers.
Publications span journals like Environment, Development and Sustainability, Springer Series, and PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases, reflecting interdisciplinary collaboration in geography, health, and technology. His book Spatiotemporal Analytics (2023) establishes methodological frameworks for dynamic geographic processes.
