Obste Therasme

Obste Therasme is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sustainable Resources Management at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF). His research focuses on sustainable energy systems, life cycle assessment (LCA), biomass utilization, and achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. He advises four graduate students in environmental science, paper & bioprocess engineering, and sustainable energy.

Therasme holds a Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy from SUNY ESF (2019), an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University (2015), and a B.S. in Chemistry from the State University of Haiti (2010). His work bridges biomass-to-bioenergy conversion, sustainable biorefinery design, and environmental policy integration.

His publications emphasize willow biomass utilization, biorefinery integration, and policy-driven bioeconomy strategies.

Recent work highlights include analyzing carbon accounting frameworks for biogenic wood, evaluating distributed solar PV systems' environmental impacts, and optimizing biomass pretreatment methods for maximum sugar yields. He has presented at high-profile conferences like AIChE and the Woody Crops International Conference.
