Obafemi Olekanma is a Senior Lecturer in Business at Teesside University's Leadership, Management & Human Resources department within the Teeside University Institute of Business and Science (TUIBS). He holds a PhD from the University of Strathclyde Business School and has over two decades of combined industry and academic experience. His roles include Academic Course Leadership for the DBA programme, Sustainability and Regulatory Frameworks coordination, and Research Methods instruction for doctoral students (TUO).
Education: PhD in Management Science (University of Strathclyde), MSc Business Analysis & Consulting (University of Strathclyde), alongside professional qualifications including Certified Management and Business Educator (CABS), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB), and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
Research focuses on Business Performance Measurement, Sustainability, and Climate Change with emphasis on SMEs and Green Innovation. His Trans Positional Cognition Approach (TPCA) and MePOD framework for employee productivity are internationally recognized tools. Current research includes an SME NetZero project examining green innovation's mediating role in carbon reduction and green job creation.
Key projects include leading a £1.2M initiative on SME carbon footprint reduction strategies and green jobs, and a systematic review of SME sustainability practices. He has published 17 peer-reviewed works, including influential articles on employee productivity measures, cultural integration in African banking, and green innovation frameworks.
Awards include CABS certification, FCIB, and SFHEA. He actively examines doctoral vivas for UK universities and serves as Visiting Academic at international institutions. His teaching spans online/on-campus leadership, curriculum design, and international TNE partnerships.
