Nydia Prishker, Ph.D., is a faculty member in the School of Education at St. Thomas Aquinas College, where she teaches courses in early childhood education, multilingualism, and TESOL. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Texas and a master’s degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Her research focuses on equity and quality in early childhood education for culturally and linguistically diverse children, with a particular emphasis on Latine families. She has conducted studies on bilingual education practices, technology integration in early childhood settings, and culturally responsive parenting strategies. Dr. Prishker’s work bridges academic research with practical tools for teachers and caregivers to enhance school readiness and well-being for young children.
Notable research contributions include examining the role of language diversity in science readiness, spatial language use in bilingual households, and the impact of immigration on Latine caregiving practices. She has co-authored grants, such as the Hesing-Simons Foundation-funded project on math integration in childcare routines.
Dr. Prishker has advised graduate students on topics like math identity development, English language learners’ support systems, and error climate in mathematics education. She collaborates with institutions like NYU’s Steinhardt School to develop resources for early childhood educators.
