Nutrena Tate serves as an Associate Professor at the McAuley School of Nursing, University of Detroit Mercy, where she teaches undergraduate courses in community health, pediatric nursing, statistics, and informatics, alongside graduate-level research and nursing theory courses with approximately 15 years of academic experience.
Her educational qualifications include:
- Post Doctoral Degree in Health Promotion and Risk Reduction from the University of Michigan
- Ph.D. in Nursing Research from Wayne State University
- Executive MBA from Michigan State University
- M.S. in Parent Child Nursing from the University of Michigan

Dr. Tate's research program rigorously investigates systemic health inequities, with concentrated focus on childhood obesity in communities of color and broader health disparities.
