معرفی
Dr. Nurettin Yakupoğlu is a Researcher at the Department of Geological Engineering, Istanbul Technical University. His work focuses on sedimentology, marine geology, geophysics, and earthquake studies, with a particular emphasis on paleoclimate reconstructions using sediment cores and seismic data. He holds a PhD in Geological Engineering from ITU (2017), following a Master's (2015) and Bachelor's (2008) in the same field from the same institution.
Research activities include investigating Holocene climate variations through lake and marine sediment records, analyzing earthquake-induced seismoturbidites, and studying active tectonics in regions like the Sea of Marmara and the North Anatolian Fault. Collaborations involve multi-proxy analyses and international projects on seismic hazards and paleoenvironmental changes. Recent work includes studies on the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes and their precursory signals in spring water systems.
Key contributions span geophysical cruise expeditions (e.g., on R/V YUNUS-S) and fieldwork in lakes (e.g., Lake Sülük, Lake Mert) and coastal zones. His research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and disaster resilience.
