Nouman Khadim is a Researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Organization Sciences department. His work focuses on advancing circular economy practices in the construction sector through interdisciplinary research.
He holds a PhD in Environment, Design and Innovation from the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli (2021–2024), an MSc in Construction Engineering and Management from NUST, Islamabad (2015–2018), and a BSc in Civil Engineering from NUCES (2011–2015).
His research emphasizes quantitative methodologies for circularity assessment, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and explores social/organizational dynamics of circular collaboration. Current projects include the Circular Collaboration (CirCol) initiative, analyzing multi-stakeholder strategies for circular renovation projects.
Key research themes include economic feasibility of circular construction, policy frameworks for sustainability transitions, and integration of circular principles into building lifecycle management. He actively contributes to peer-reviewed journals like Sustainable Production and Consumption and Building and Environment.
As a project researcher, he collaborates on the CirCol project (2023–2028), aiming to scale circular renovation practices through cross-sectoral collaboration. His activities include editorial roles for Buildings journal and peer-review work for Building and Environment.
