Norman L. Strominger is a Professor in the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics at Albany Medical College. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago (1961) and has dedicated his career to neuroscience research, particularly auditory system anatomy, brainstem pathways, and primate neuroanatomy. His work includes co-authoring the textbook Noback's Human Nervous System, Seventh Edition.
- Education: PhD, University of Chicago (1961); BS (1956); BA (1955).
Strominger's research spans auditory discrimination, neural pathways, and brainstem structures, with a focus on comparative studies across primates, cats, and ferrets. His work on the area postrema, cochlear nucleus, and superior colliculus has advanced understanding of sensory integration and autonomic regulation.
His publications from 1963–2001 reflect a consistent focus on auditory processing, brainstem anatomy, and neurotransmitter effects. Key themes include neural plasticity, evolutionary morphology, and functional mapping of sensory and autonomic pathways.
