Norman J.W. Goda is the Norman and Irma Braman Professor of Holocaust Studies, specializing in modern European history, the Holocaust, war crimes trials, and Cold War diplomacy. His research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to Nazi Germany, Holocaust history, and international relations. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He has authored or co-authored major works including Tomorrow the World (1998), Tales from Spandau (2007), Hitler’s Shadow (2010), and The Holocaust: Europe, the World, and the Jews (2013). He co-edited volumes such as Jewish Histories of the Holocaust (2014) and Rethinking Holocaust Justice (2018), and served as lead editor on two James G. McDonald diaries series (2014, 2017) published with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
His articles appear in journals like the Journal of Modern History and Antisemitism Studies, and his work has been featured by major media outlets including The New York Times. He has advised governments and documentaries across the US, Europe, and Israel on Holocaust-related topics.
