Nora Wenzl

Nora Wenzl serves as a Teaching and Research Associate at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), where she instructs English Business Communication I courses. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree at WU, focusing her research on linguistic aspects of the Brexit debate.

Nora completed both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English and American Studies at Karl-Franzens Universität, Graz, where she spent two semesters studying at Université Bordeaux-Montaigne in France. Her academic excellence was recognized with the Excellence Award in English and American Studies upon completing her Master's program. Prior to her position at WU, she worked as an assistant and lecturer at the Department of American Studies in Graz.

Her research interests span Critical Discourse Studies and Cultural Studies, with previous work examining the depiction of the Other in American Films Noirs from a critical whiteness studies perspective. Her current research combines quantitative corpus linguistic methods with qualitative approaches to critically analyze political discourse, specifically focusing on Brexit-related communications.

Nora has extensive teaching experience across primary, secondary, and tertiary educational levels, demonstrating her versatility in language instruction. Her scholarly contributions include a notable 2019 chapter in the volume 'Discourses of Brexit' that examines how national identities are constructed in parliamentary debates surrounding EU membership.
