Dr. Nora Siklodi is Associate Professor in Politics at the University of Portsmouth, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Area Studies, Sociology, History, Politics, and Literature. She serves as Co-Editor of Political Studies Review, Chair of ECPR Standing Group on Citizenship, and Co-Lead of the Transnational Politics and Society Research Group at the Centre for European and International Studies Research.
Dr. Siklodi completed her PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2015. Her doctoral thesis explored how EU free movement shapes young people's perceptions of citizenship, identity, and political participation, which culminated in her monograph "The Politics of Mobile Citizenship in Europe" published by Palgrave in 2020. Prior to her position at Portsmouth, she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2019-22).
Dr. Siklodi's research takes a political studies perspective to explore citizenship, belonging, and intersectionality, with a primary focus on Europe. Her work examines migration, gender, and race/ethnicity within European political contexts, while also developing more inclusive approaches to research methods in political science. She is particularly interested in how European citizenship is experienced at the margins and how gender intersects with political representation.
Her recent publications reveal a strong focus on European citizenship post-Brexit, gender dynamics in political executives, and decolonial approaches to political science methodology. She frequently examines how major political events like Brexit and the Ukraine war reshape citizenship frameworks and political participation across Europe.
